Plain-Language Summary (for kids & families)
We collect only what we need to run your student portal and programs.
We don’t sell children’s data or show targeted ads.
For children under 13, we ask a parent or guardian for permission first.
Parents can see, fix, or delete their child’s information—just contact us.
If anything here is unclear, email us at info@empoweredtoachieve.org.
Who We Are
Empowered To Achieve (ETA) (“we,” “us”). Address: 74924 Country Club Dr, Ste 150 #101, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
Email: info@empoweredtoachieve.org
What This Policy Covers
This policy explains how we handle personal information of children and students who use ETA’s websites, member portals, forms, or events (together, the “Services”).
Information We Collect From Students
We collect the minimum needed for learning, tracking progress, and communication:
Account & profile: first name, last initial (or full name if approved), student ID, grade/school, parent/guardian name & email, optional photo.
Program activity: volunteer hours, badges/awards, milestones, messages to ETA staff.
Donations: students may see their shareable donation link, but donations are by adults only.
Device/usage data: limited analytics (pages visited, device/browser).
Optional media: photos or videos from events only with consent.
We do not ask children for payment info.
How We Use Student Information
Operate the student/parent/nonprofit portals and programs
Track progress (hours, badges, milestones)
Communicate with families and nonprofit partners
Improve safety, quality, and accessibility of ETA Services
Comply with the law and protect our community
When We Share It
We do not sell student data. We share only with service providers who help us run ETA (for example: website hosting via Squarespace, email, cloud storage). They may use data only to provide their service to ETA. We may share de-identified, aggregate stats (no names).
Advertising
We do not use behavioral or targeted advertising in student areas. No third-party ad networks on student pages.
Parental Consent (COPPA)
For children under 13 in the U.S., we obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information (except for one-time contact to seek consent). Ways we may verify consent:
Parent e-signs a consent form we send by email and confirms by reply or short call/video; or
Parent uses a credit/debit card or other online payment method only to verify identity (no charge required); or
A school/nonprofit representative provides consent for educational use (no commercial use), and notifies the parent.
Parents’ rights: At any time, parents may review, correct, or delete their child’s information and withdraw consent. Email info@empoweredtoachieve.org with your child’s name and student ID.
Teens 13–17
We encourage teen participation, but for certain features (photos, public pages, messaging) we may still require parent/guardian permission. Teens can request deletion at any time; we’ll notify the parent as required.
Cookies & Analytics
We use necessary cookies (to keep you logged in) and basic analytics to understand site usage. You can control cookies in your browser. See our general Privacy Policy for details on cookies across the site.
Data Retention
We keep student records only as long as needed for programs and legal/accounting requirements, then delete or de-identify them. If a portal account is inactive for 24 months, we will delete or archive it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (access controls, encryption in transit, least-privilege staff access). No system is perfectly secure; please contact us immediately if you suspect an issue.
International Visitors
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, a parent or guardian must consent if you are under the digital age of consent (usually 16, or lower where local law allows). We process data as needed to provide services, with consent, or to meet legal obligations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date and, when appropriate, notify families or schools.
